NEW DELHI: Amazon Seller Services India today announced its plans to open five more fulfillment centers (FCs) in Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Tauru (outskirts of Gurgaon). These FCs are warehouses from which Amazon ships products to buyers across India. With the additional storage capacity and its two existing FCs outskirts of Mumbai and Bangalore, Amazon has almost doubled its total storage capacity to over half million square feet, offering fulfilment services to retailers and small and medium businesses (SMBs) across the country.

According to an Amazon statement this is part of Amazon’s focus on enhancing online shopping experience for consumers in India and enabling SMBs to get a national platform using fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). Via FBA the online marketplace ships directly to buyers across the country.
Customers in the states where the new FCs will be located and nearby areas can expect quicker shipment shipment and will be eligible for next-day and same-day delivery services.

“The launch of the five new fulfillment centers is part of our continued investment in providing reliable delivery and enabling sellers to achieve nationwide scale.” said Amit Agarwal, vice president and country manager, Amazon India, in the statement.

The fulfilment center in Chennai is already operational and the remaining four FCs will be operational next month.
