Stuttgart based luxury car maker, Mercedes Benz continues its dream run in India. The German car maker posted its highest ever quarter two (April to June) sales in 2015, posting a growth of 43 per cent to 3093 units, which led to a half yearly growth of 41 per cent in the first half of 2015 to 6659 units.

Such has been the rise that the half yearly sales of Mercedes Benz India is almost near to the full year sales of 2012 by the company, wherein it sold over 7100 units.

This growth was led by over 100 per cent growth in the sports utility vehicle space in January to June period, even as its mainstay sedans, the CLA-Class, C-Class, E-Class and S-Class remained the key contributor at 40 per cent in the first half.

Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India said, “We are on track with our long term objective of achieving a sustained profitable growth for our business in India. This performance firmly underlines the acceptance of our customer focused approach and reiterates yet again, Mercedes-Benz India’s proven brand premium and competitive edge in the luxury car industry. The brand remains distinct in terms of offering continuous product innovations, having the largest luxury car production faciliti
extending an enriching service experience and strengthening our extensive network footprint.”

Mercedes Benz has already launched 6 new products in the first half of 2015 and there are 9 more in the offing for the rest of the year. The company has the deepest network amongst luxury car markets at 73 outlets in 39 cities, the company will be adding 12 more outlets in the second half.

With just a few hundred units separating Mercedes Benz and Audi through last one year, it has been the neck and neck race so far, but with a strong tailwind at the back, Stuttgart based luxury car maker is aiming to reclaim the number one position at the end of 2015.
