New Delhi – Samsung Electronics this month launched the Galaxy J, seen as a variant of its popular Galaxy S4 Smartphone in Taiwan. The phone with a metal body will also be available in Japan.

The phone has been priced at 21,900 Taiwanese dollar without a contract. The device will be available to Taiwanese consumers between mid-December and early January. However there is no official confirmation on the release of the phone outside Taiwan and Japan.

Let’s look at five interesting features of the phone.

Processor and operating system

The phone will run Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) which will be upgradable to 4.4 (KitKat). The device houses 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 processor.

Display

The phone has AMOLED capacitive touchscreen boasting 1080 x 1920 pixels with 441 ppi pixel density. The multitouch phone has corning gorilla glass 3.

Camera

The Galaxy J sports a 13.2-megapixel rear camera with BSI CMOS sensor and LED flash and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 2160p@30fps, dual-video recording.

Memory
With 3 GB RAM the phone has 16 GB internal memory and can be expanded upto 64 GB using microSD card.

Battery and Connectivity

The phone houses a powerful Li-Ion 2600mAh battery. The phone will be available in two colours—Red and White in Taiwan while the colour blue will be exclusive for Japanese customers. For connectivity it will have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, EDR, LE.
