Volkswagen launches refreshed Jetta
Volkswagen, on Tuesday, launched face-lifted Jetta here.
The new version comes with changes in exterior and interior.
The 1.4 TSI petrol variant comes in two trims — Trendline priced at Rs.13.87 lakh and Comfortline at Rs.15.36 lakh.
The Diesel 2.0 TDI comes in four trims — Trendline at Rs.15.01 lakh, Comfortline at Rs.16.89 lakh, Highline MT at Rs.18.76 lakh and top-end DSG at Rs.19.77 lakh. All prices ex-showroom Mumbai.
Jetta is an executive sedan, and competes with established players such as Hyundai’s Elantra, Toyota’s Corolla Altis and Group company Skoda’s Octavia.
On the possible competition in-house, Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India, said the vehicles occupied their individual space in their segments.
While Jetta’s 1.4 litre petrol engine variant offers 14.69 km a litre, the 2.0 litre diesel variant offers 19.3 km a litre. In terms of safety, the new Jetta comes with six airbags across variants and a Fatigue detection system.
The new version will be available in six colours — reflex silver, toffee brown, deep black, pure white, blue silk and platinum grey. It is available across showrooms from Tuesday. On the declining sales of the segment, Mr. Mayer said, “There is still a section of corporate buyers who are looking for a spacious saloon. Jetta has already achieved 10 per cent share in the segment, and sells 250-300 units a month.’’
