CHENNAI: Vidya Sagar, a Chennai-based organization working for the benefit of persons with disabilities, is offering a certificate course in human rights with focus on disability rights.

The three-month course would cover various international conventions, perspectives to different groups of people, national and international disability instruments and practices, personality development techniques, research methodologies, internship at different platforms and a final evaluation strategy.

“The course aims at developing more persons with and without disabilities to be self-advocates, standing up for their rights and at the same time experiencing an inclusive platform to learn and network with their counterparts. This is one among our various measures towards increasing/ensuring disability equity and full human rights and fundamental freedoms of persons with disabilities,” said a statement from Vidya Sagar.

The course is likely to commence on December 10, the World Human Rights Day.

The medium of instruction is English and the course fee is Rs 7,000.

Those who are above 18 and have passed Class 10 and above are eligible to apply.

Application forms can be received in person from Vidya Sagar, No.1, Ranjith Road, Kotturpuram, Chennai 600085 or by sending an email to dlu.south@gmail.com or director@vidyasagar.co.in.

The last date for submitting the application is November 22.
