Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is an admission test for entry in the Colleges of America for Under Graduate Courses. SAT is conducted by the College Board, which is a non-profit organization, committed to the principles of excellence and equity. SAT is conducted six times in a year in India.

Eligibility for Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT):
SAT is taken by high school juniors and seniors. Indian students who have completed their 12 years of education successfully from any recognized Indian board or university can take SAT for admission in the different streams available in to various American colleges.
Marks are not criteria for appearing the SAT examinations. However during admissions, several colleges ask for good SAT scores along with a good academic record. Besides that college conducts their own tests, like Essay Writing, personality test etc and also ask for Curriculum Vitae and recommendations from teacher etc. Some colleges specify the Subject Tests they require for admission or placement; others allow applicants to choose the tests that they wish to take.

Contents of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) :
There are two sets of test, namely, SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Test

  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Reasoning Test:
    SAT reasoning test assesses the analytical and problem solving skills of an aspirant. SAT Test (formerly known as SAT I) includes critical reading, mathematics and writing section, with a specific number of questions related to content.1.Critical reading includes reading of short passages along with the long passages.
    2.Mathematics Section includes questions from exponential growth, absolute value, and functional notation. It also places greater emphasis on topics like linear functions, manipulations with exponents and properties of tangent lines.
    3.The writing section includes multiple-choice questions and a direct writing measure in the form of an essay.
  • Scholastic Aptitude (SAT) Subject Test
    SAT Subject Tests (formerly known as SAT II) are designed to measure the applicant's knowledge and skills in particular subject areas like English, history, mathematics, science and language. The subject tests are designed to test the ability of an applicant to apply the knowledge that he / she has acquired during their 12 years of education.

Registration by mail:
To register by mail, SAT Registration Booklet with Registration Form and Return envelope is required. The SAT Registration Booklet contains test dates, registration deadlines, fees, instructions, test center codes and other registration-related information.

Online Registration:For taking SAT Reasoning and SAT subject Test, the applicant can register online too, incase of some unavoidable circumstances.
