Feng Shui Design

Design is basically how we live in our respective spaces. Feng Shui focuses on the flow of energy or Chi in the surroundings. At times, it is also considered the personal energy that should be encouraged and boosted, to bring welfare and prosperity. The crux of the matter is that the emphasis has always been on the influence on both, the exterior as well as the interior environment we dwell in. Depending on how balanced, harmonious and positive our space is, the quality of our life varies. To lead a happy and prosper life, Feng Shui lays down some basic steps and tips, which when applied to the design of your interiors, will bring drastic changes.

Free Flow
The free flow of energy is the prime requisite for bringing harmony in our surroundings. To achieve this goal, the first and foremost thing to be done is to remove any obstacle in the way of energy. This can be ensured by having multiple pathways into a house, for the effective distribution of energy. Mirrors can be used for drawing the energy to different parts of the house. Chi is attracted towards smooth, rounded surfaces.

Balance
Another important aspect of Feng Shui is achieving balance. The existence of the universe is based on balance. Balance is very necessary when deciding the space and design for a structure. It is essential in every sphere of life, such as personal, professional, spiritual etc. The basic aim of balance is to reinstate nature around us. Consequently, Feng Shui favors natural items and materials made of wood, stone and metal. Chemical products are disapproved, while technological objects are hidden in holistic designs of Feng Shui.

Proper Placement
Feng Shui strongly propagates the ideology of proper placement of things and activities. For this, it employs Ba-gua, the energy map, which determines the various regions of the house. According to Ba-gua, there are nine zones or domains of the house that are located in different directions and are dedicated to different elements. However, there are different approaches for determining the same. The Ba-gua can be placed according to cardinal directions, or according to the astrology of the homeowners, or with the lower edge aligning with the front façade of the home.
