Bomb blasts as rioters fight police
MANAMA: Two home-made bombs exploded last night as security forces confronted saboteurs who were blocking roads and pelting policemen with Molotov cocktails in Saar. The Northern Police director general said that a patrol vehicle was damaged in the blasts. No-one was injured in the explosions, he said.
Earlier, thugs blocked roads and all entrances to Saar, causing traffic disruption and forcing police to intervene. A resident said roads were blocked with cinder blocks and debris since noon and by evening firebombs were being hurled at police patrol jeeps. At least two gas cylinders were also used to cause explosions, said the resident. Police used armoured vehicles to control the situation and tear gas was used to disperse rioters.
Meanwhile, police said last night that its operation room received a call from Salmaniya Medical Complex informing them of a patient with facial injuries brought by his family. It said the patient was brought from Saar at the time when clashes were continuing between rioters and security forces.
