Dubai: The death toll in Saturday’s fatal accident on Emirates Road in Dubai has risen from 13 to 15 as two of the 14 injured died in hospital, Senior Chief Traffic Prosecutor Salah Bu Farousha told Gulf News.

Bu Farousha, who is also Head of Dubai Traffic Public Prosecution, said 15 people died in the crash between a bus and a truck. He said the drivers of the truck and the bus, both of whom survived, have been put under provisional detention. The bus was carrying 27 Asian labourers when it crashed after the Dubai Club bridge in the direction of Al Ruwaiyah.

The injured were sent to both Rashid Hospital and Al Baraha hospital.Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, Brigadier Anas Al Matroushi, Director of the General Directorate of the Transport and Rescue, Colonel Ali Ahmad Ghanem, Director of the Bur Dubai police station and Lieutenant Colonel Omar Bin Hammad, Deputy Director of Al Rashidiya Police Station, were present at the scene.
