KARACHI: Four persons including a senior policeman Inspector Shafiq Tanoli were killed when a suicide blast occurred near old vegetable market Thursday morning, Geo News reported.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nasir Lodhi, Inspector Shafiq Tanoli was killed along with his friend when a suicide bomber targeted a shop in old vegetable market near Tanoli’s house where he was present at the time of attack.

Three persons were also injured in the explosion who were shifted to the hospital in critical condition, hospital sources told.

SSP East told that initial clues depict that it was a suicide blast and the attacker was 15-16 years old.

Shafiq Tanoli was the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mawach Goth and was demoted and suspended from his post after he allegedly raided a house in Defence area illegally.

It is pertinent to mention here that Inspector Tanoli was actively involved in the investigation of Geo News reporter Wali Khan Babar’s murder case and had previously escaped several attacks on his life.
