Kathmandu – The Communist Party of Nepal, Maoist (CPN-Maoist), which boycotted the Nov 19 national elections, has reiterated its demand for holding a roundtable conference to end the political deadlock in the country, the party said Monday.

After concluding its week-long central committee meeting, the party said it can join the government if its demand of a roundtable conference is addressed, reports Xinhua.

Nepal held its second constituent assembly election Nov 19 sans the participation of the CPN-Maoist, a breakaway faction of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) which became third largest party in the election.

The party reiterated its position that the constituent assembly cann! ot provide a political outlet to the country and draft a new constituti! on.

“We are for the dissolution of the new constituent assembly because it would polarize the politics instead of writing a new constitution,” said Dev Gurung, party secretary of CPN-Maoist.

The party made such a decision at a time when some parties are exploring ways to include it in the constitution drafting process.

The party is also preparing to hit the street to press the other parties to fulfill its demands.
