Melbourne – Western powers may offer to defreeze Iranian assets worth 50 billion dollars, but any broad dilution of sanctions in the interim deal on Tehran’s nuclear programme has been ruled out.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that important gaps need to be bridged in high-stake talks with Iran on curbing its nuclear programme, Stuff.co.nz reports.

Iran’s negotiation team urged the world powers to ease oil and banking sanctions imposed on Tehran during the first phase of the interim deal, the report added.

According to the report, the negotiations are already midway through their second round.

The diplomats said the negotiations would mark only the first step in a long, complex process towards a permanent resolution of international concerns on Iran seeking the capability to build nuclear bombs.
