A British national was among at least 20 people killed in Monday’s bomb attack in Bangkok, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has confirmed.
He said the female Briton was a Hong Kong resident and that British Embassy staff in Thailand were “assisting her family at this very difficult time”.
Mr Hammond said Britons in Thailand should check the Foreign Office website for the latest travel advice.
Thai police have released images of a suspect they want to question.
Nine foreigners were among those killed in the attack at the Erawan Hindu shrine. More than 120 people were injured.
‘Abhorrent act’
Mr Hammond called it a “callous act of violence against completely innocent and unsuspecting members of the public”.
He said: “My thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones, and with the Thai people.
“Foreign Office officials are in close contact with the Thai authorities and have offered UK assistance in the investigation of this abhorrent act.”
