London – Operation “Blue Star” Lieutenant-General Kuldeep Singh Brar’s London attackers have been jailed for slashing his throat in revenge for the 1984 military offensive.

A Sikh gang, including Mandeep Singh Sandhu of Birmingham, Dilbag Singh and Harjit Kaur, both from London and Barjinder Singh Sangha of Wolverhampton, were convicted of wounding with intent by the Southwark Crown Court, the BBC reports.

According to the report, Sandhu and Dilbag were sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment, Harjit was jailed for 11 years, while Sangha received a sentence of 10 years and six months.

The 78-year old was attacked on 30 September 2012 as he walked with his wife in central London while returning to their hotel in the West End.

Lt Gen Brar was involved in June 1984 operation against Sikh separatists in Amritsar of north-west India, which left at least 500 people dead and made him the target of anger and revenge attacks.
