Designed by Engraver John Bergdahl, the design for Princess Charlotte’s christening coin has been recently unveiled by the Royal Mint.

The coin, which is surrounded by harp-playing cherubs, features an inscription, “To celebrate the christening of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge 2015” in the centre, reported E! Online.

As per reports, the inspiration for the design was drawn from the lily font that has been used in the baptism of royal babies since Queen Victoria’s era.

The new 5 pounds coin will be available in silver, as it is a long-standing tradition to cross a newborn’s hands with the metal to bestow good health and prosperity, but will also be made in gold to mark the royal celebration.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter’s christening will take place on July 5 at St. Mary Magdalene Church at Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
