New Delhi: Defending his stand in the 2G scam probe, Central Bureau of Information Director Ranjit Sinha’s has rejected the affidavit filed by NGO Center for Public Interest Litigation which has levelled allegations against him.

In an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court he questioned the source of information for the allegations adding that it is not enough for CPIL to quote an unnamed whistleblower.

He claimed that the CPIL has made false allegations on oath and the Supreme Court should direct the registration of a case against CPIL for giving false evidence. He also said that communication between the CBI Director and Director of Prosecution is privileged and cannot be used without the consent of the CBI Director or Director of Prosecution.

In a sealed envelope, Sinha had filed an affidavit in the SC in response to the allegations made by senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan of interfering in the 2G scam probe.

Bhushan had filed a petition in the SC seeking its direction to Sinha to rescue himself from investigation and prosecution in 2G case, alleging that he is trying to protect some influential accused in the scam.

Bhushan had also submitted the original entry/guest diary of the CBI director’s residence saying it will be destroyed and hence he is depositing it with the court. To this, Sinha had asked the SC to disclose the source from which he got all the documents.
