New Delhi: Hitting back at the BJP over its protests outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence against the road rage incident, the AAP on Thrsday took a jibe at the saffron party saying, does Prime Minister Narendra Modi approve of the ‘Naxalite’ and ‘anarchist’ style of agitation.
The party again pitched for having the Delhi Police under the control of the state government.
“The Prime Minister had once termed us as anarchists and Naxalites for protesting. What does he have to say about the protests by BJP workers and Satish Upadhyay?” senior party leader Kumar Vishwas said in news conference in New Delhi.”We dont understand the logic behind Satish Upadhyay’s protest. If he was protesting against the failing law and order in Delhi then he should talk to the Prime Minister and work on bringing the Delhi Police under the control of the state government. We will support him whole-heartedly.” He also attacked the BJP for creating hurdles in the fucntioning of a “progressive government.”
“Those who termed us Naxalites are against the progessive and development-oriented government of the country,” Vishwas added.
The BJP alleged that the five accused arrested in the road rage case at the Turkman gate are AAP workers close to Delhi Environment Minister and Matia Mahal MLA Asim Ahmed and demanded his immediate removal from the post.
The party has also slammed Congress leader Abhishek Manu Sanghvi for representing people from tobacco lobby in a court case.
“The Congress should come clear on this. On TV, their leaders are protesting against tobacco and another leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi is representing people from tobacco lobby.
Earlier Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal have represented power companies. The party should explain their stand on this,” Vishwas added.
Raising the issue of the famers suicide in Uttar Pradesh, the party said hundreds of peasants are committing suicide due to the losses faced by them because of unseasonal rains.
“The Samajwadi party government has made a joke by giving compensation as low of Re 1 in some cases. They have still not given money to sugar cooperatives, who in turn have to pay up the farmers,” party leader and UP in-charge Sanjay Singh said.
He said that the party will raise the issue in the April 22 protest. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to lead the protests aimed against the Land Acquisition Bill.
