State Convener Anjali Damania, who contested and lost the Lok Sabha election against Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur, and State Secretary Preeti Sharma Menon quit citing personal reasons.

It may be recalled that both these leaders had resigned in June too but they soon withdrew the resignation.

The official reason cited for the resignations is that the duo “could not cope with the multi-tasking” that was expected of them.

“We are not just politicians, we are also aam aadmi. We were finding it difficult to manage our lives. After the Lok Sabha elections, there was a negative sentiment that was created, but that was not the only reason to resign then, there were other elements too,” said Damania.

Menon admitted she was not happy with the functioning of party but stressed that was a thing of the past.

“Three months ago, we were dissatisfied with the way the state arm of the party was functioning and hence decided to resign then. But with the help of our volunteers we were able to reform the state executive and things now are moving in the right direction. Both Anjali and I have resigned now as we need to give attention to our personal lives,” said Menon.

Damania and Menon said they were finding it tough to juggle their family life, careers and party responsibilities. “Both of us could not cope with the multi tasking that we had to do,” Menon added.

“Three months ago was not the right time to resign as there was no alternative for the party in the state. Only after a proper handover to Mission Vistaar team did we know that we were ready to resign not from the party but from our posts,” said Damania.
