AAM Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal met Najeeb Jung on Wednesday and requested the lieutenant-governor to “revise” the September 4 letter in which he sought the President’s permission to invite the BJP to form the government in Delhi.

Kejriwal along with other party leaders submitted a CD of the sting operation which allegedly shows Delhi BJP vice-president Sher Singh Dagar trying to buy off AAP legislator Dinesh Mohania to switch sides. The AAP leaders also requested Jung to dissolve the Delhi Assembly and hold fresh elections.

“We have submitted the CD of our sting operation which shows the BJP trying to buy our MLA for 4 crore. We requested the LG to watch the video. We also asked him to revise the September 4 letter he sent to President Pranab Mukherjee in which, in a way, he has sought permission to invite the BJP for government formation,” AAP leader Manish Sisodia told reporters after the meeting with Jung.

In a letter to the L-G, Kejriwal said Mohania is not the first AAP MLA to have been approached by the BJP.

“The BJP has approached several other MLAs of our party. Our MLA from Shalimar Bagh, Bandana Kumari, was approached and was given a life threat in case she revealed anything about the BJP offer. In one of our previous meetings with you, we had handed over the CCTV footage of that incident.

It is quite clear now that the BJP wants to form its government in Delhi through horse-trading,” Kejriwal said. The meeting comes a day after the Supreme Court gave the Centre a month to end the deadlock over government formation in Delhi.

“We, therefore, humbly request you to apprise the President of the developments going on in Delhi for the last few days, particularly the attempts by the BJP to make a mockery of the Constitution. We once again appeal to you to recommend to the President the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly ,” Kejriwal said in the letter to the L-G. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that even if the BJP forms the government by horse trading, the problems of Delhi will not be solved.

Jung, in his letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, had said that holding elections in such a short time after the elections of December 2013 will not be in public interest.

“…I shall be grateful if the Hon’ble President grants approval to invite BJP, that is even today the single largest party in the legislature to seek their interest in forming the government (MLA strength of all parties as well as independents is attached),” the letter said.
