Kejriwal, however, reiterated that he is willing to give in writing that he will appear in court whenever summoned.

A Delhi court had on Wednesday sent him to judicial custody till May 23 after he refused to furnish the personal bail bond of Rs 10,000 in the Nitin Gadkari defamation case.

“Earlier Kejriwal had agreed to pay up the amount and refused later saying that he doesn’t have that kind of money. The court took notice of his failure to pay up the money and ordered the judicial custody for him till 23 May,” lawyer Pinky Anand who is representing Nitin Gadkari had said.

During the Wednesday hearing, the court asked Kejriwal if he was looking for “some exceptional treatment”.

AAP leader spent two nights in Tihar jail and appeared before a delhi court today for his bail hearing accompanied by his wife and AAP leader Kumar Vishwas.

During the hearing, the magistrate observed, “I completely agree but why he (Kejriwal) will not furnish bail bond. What is the problem. There is a procedure and why should we follow different procedure in this case.

“I agree he will appear in the court but the procedure is that a person has to file bail bond. Are you looking for some exception treatment?”

“This is my principle that when I have not done anything wrong, I will not seek bail. I am ready to go to jail,” Kejriwal said.

It remains to be seen now what action the court decides to take now.

Will Arvind Kejriwal be sent back to jail?
