Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Friday filed his nomination for next month’s assembly elections in the state and said they will form the next government.

Hooda filed his nomination papers in his hometown Rohtak, 75 km from Delhi, for the Garhi-Sampla Kiloi assembly seat in Rohtak district. He has been elected legislator from this seat thrice earlier.

Talking to media after filing his nomination papers, Hooda said that the Congress was confident of winning the assembly elections and forming the government for a third time in the state.

“We will form the next government in the state. The Congress will win comfortably,” Hooda said.

Hooda has been chief minister in Haryana since March 2005. His government assumed office for a second term after the October 2009 assembly polls.

Elections to 90 assembly seats in Haryana are to be held Oct 15. The results will be known Oct 19.

As many as 295 candidates had filed their nomination papers till Thursday evening.
