Police crosschecks Narayan Sai’s account of 58 absconding days
Surat – Gujarat Police has said it is crosschecking Narayan Sai’s account of the past 58 days that he had been absconding.
Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said they already have information on the subject and are going to cross-verify it with Narayan Sai’s.
“We are crosschecking the details that have come up after the interrogation. He has given an account of the 58 days when he was absconding, which is quite lengthy. We have some information on the same, and we are going to cross-verify it with what he says,” said Asthana.
“He has been answering like a normal accused; he is saying a few things and hiding a few. His medical examination will take place today. We will decide later if any other tests are to be done,” added Asthana.
Furthermore, Asthana added that the Delhi Police had seized some of his things including his car, six phones, and sim cards and have brought them to Surat.
Responding to the question on Vani Kaushik, one of Sai’s aides, Asthana said they had already interrogated him.
“We have already interrogated Kaushik and checked his background. It seems that he held an important position at the ashram and kept a record of the accounts,” he said.
Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu’s son Narayan Sai was arrested on Wednesday in Pipli, Haryana and brought to Delhi for identification and questioning, and is now being questioned by Crime Branch officials of the Surat Police in connection with a sexual assault case filed against him.
Gujarat Police had secured a day’s transit remand from a Delhi court on Wednesday to take Narayan Sai into custody and produce him before a court in Surat in connection with the case.
