Though her supporters have started gathering near the Bangalore Central Jail, reports say that the police have made sure that they cannot come within three kilometres of the jail.
The time for Jayalalithaa’s release has not been fixed yet. Reports say that Jaya might not leave the jail between 1 to 1.30 pm because she considers the time inauspicious. If the formalities aren’t completed by 12.30 pm, she will only leave the jail after 3 pm.
On the other hand, Chennai is already preparing to welcome Jaya. Times Now reports that supporters have started collecting outside the Chennai airport. “Jayalalithaa will be released… but tomorrow because we have yet to complete formalities for her release from the prison,” Jayalalithaa’s senior counsel B Kumar told PTI here.
Kumar said they would approach the Special Court on Saturday, which had sentenced the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to four years in jail, to furnish surety for her release after receiving copy of the Supreme Court order. The former Chief Minister’s lawyers are now sitting on dharna outside the Karnataka High court in protest at the decision to not free her immediately.
This means that Jayalalithaa will have to continue life as prisoner 7402 in VVIP cell number 23 in the Parappana Agrahara jail for another four days at least.
She has been alternating her time between her cell and the prison hospital, to which she was admitted after complaining of dizziness, blurred eyesight and elevated sugar levels.
