Will address all issues raised’: Tehelka Managing Editor on sexual assault case
New Delhi – Tehelka Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhury on Thursday said she would address all issues that have been raised regarding allegations that the founder of Tehelka, Tarun Tejpal, sexually assaulted a young woman journalist working for the magazine.
“I want to address all questions that have been raised. Give me a chance to do it in the correct fashion. This institution is not a fugitive. There is a grievous incident that has happened. Please let us address it correctly. I am in touch with her,” she told media here today.
Tejpal, on Wednesday, sent a letter to Shoma Chaudhary, saying that he was stepping aside from his job for six months, and was squarely to be blamed for the sexual misconduct incident.
Tejpal further said that it was a bad lapse of judgment on his part, and that he had completely misread the situation.
He said that he has apologised unconditionally to the concerned journalist, but felt that he needed to atone for his misconduct further.
Tejpal, who is a founder member of the Tehelka magazine, said that he was stepping aside as an act of penance.
