Ebay's 'revamped website' inspired by Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter

Ebay's 'revamped website' inspired by Pinterest, Facebook and TwitterLondon - Online commerce giant eBay has unveiled a new look for its website, which seems have taken inspiration from the features of social-networking sites such as Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter.

The revamping of the website was done to give consumers personalised suggestions to help them sift through the huge shopping site.

"We're delivering a cleaner, contemporary look and feel; a more intuitive, convenient way to browse, decide and buy, both globally and locally; and a new personal way to curate your own shopping experience and discover items perfect for you," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted eBay president Devin Wenig, as saying.

According to the paper, the liberal use of photos on the revamped eBay site seems to mimic the fast-growing social network Pinterest, while the eBay newsfeed appears to be inspired by Facebook. Users will also apparently get a Twitter-like option to "follow" products or brands.

Wenig said that the site will have "more inviting pictures" and would allow users to click on an item, get key details, and then complete a purchase in as little as two clicks.

The firm said that while the new design would roll out in the US in the coming weeks, the only change to the Australian site is a new logo, the paper said.

An eBay Australia spokeswoman confirmed that the new design would hit ebay.com.au in November, with additional new features coming next year.
