New Delhi, March 22 (IANS) The full Planning Commission, led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, will meet Tuesday to review the state of the economy and also consider the approval of the mid-term appraisal of the 11th
Plan (2007-12), an official said Sunday.

According to an official, the full Planning Commission's nod is necessary for approval of the mid-term appraisal as only then the process for further approval of various government sponsored programmes will go to the National Development Council (NDC).

The full plan panel is also expected to suggest mid-course policy corrections for achieving objectives the 11th Plan. The 11th Five Year Plan aims at an average growth of 9 percent.

NDC deals with approval of five-year plans, implementation of various government sponsored rural and community development programmes, besides approval, implementation and assessment of all major development projects.

The council is likely to meet some time next month.

An official said the full plan panel meeting is significant against  the backdrop of Friday's monetary action by the Reserve Bank of India to check rising prices, rising inflation and falling agriculture production.

The full Planning Commission had earlier met on Sep 1 last year.

The prime minister, who is also the chairman of the Planning Commission, will attend the meeting Tuesday along with his senior cabinet colleagues, including Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
