New Delhi (IANS) - Passenger car major Maruti Suzuki Thursday reported a slower growth in sales in June, rising 17.3 percent to 88,091 units, due to a planned six-day shutdown for maintenance activities and typical sluggish sales seen during the monsoon season.
Sales had grown a robust 28 percent in May to 102,175 units. In June 2009, it had sold 75,109 vehicles.
Exports during the month grew 14.6 percent to 15,279 units.
Sales in the compact car (A2) segment comprising Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew 11.4 percent to 51,418 units over June 2009.
Sales of models in its mid-sized (A3) segment comprising SX4 and D'Zire rose 32.5 percent to 8,081 cars. The company sold 9,914 vehicles of its C segment which comprises the Omni, Versa, and Eeco.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Maruti scrip was ruling 1.49 percent lower at Rs.1,402.45, after touching an intra-day low of Rs.1,380.
