England batsman Trott admits being obsessed with American football and baseball

London - England batsman Jonathan Trott has revealed his obsession and admiration for American sports, and the way they play them.

American football and baseball are Trott's favourite games, and the South Africa born batsman will be heading to America to watch his favorite San Francisco 49ers take on the New York Jets  on the gridiron in September.

Trott also disclosed that the England cricket team is working along American lines to make their dreams come true.

"I love America it is a great country and sometime I get a bit of stick because all I want to do is go to America and watch sports, but it is really fascinating for me," The Daily Mirror quoted  Trott, as saying.

"The two sports I really follow are the NFL and baseball and the stats they use really appeal to me because there are so many columns to look at. Everything is counted and it lets you know  how you've done, when you've done it and what the outcome was," he added.

"In baseball they play nearly every day, so they log everything like we do on file, so when a team comes up again they have all these facts and percentages. We have the same thing on what  the pitch will do, what the bowler does and where a batsman gets out," he said.

Trott further said: "I think cricket is getting a lot better at it and I think Crickstat has a lot to do with it. Initially it was a new thing and took getting used to, but now it is starting to prove its

worth. American pro-sports have been doing this stuff for years and years and cricket is catching up."
