Washington - Pop sensation Britney Spears has refused to apologise, after the local politicians of Hackney demanded an apology for glamourising gun violence in her ‘Criminal’ music video.
The popstar had filmed scenes for her latest video ‘Criminal’ in east London and while doing a Bonnie and Clyde-themed shoot, was photographed running out of a convenience store in Hackney waving a fake gun.
Local politicians on the Hackney Council were outraged by the controversial video, which was filmed just weeks after riots unfolded across England which included Hackney. They immediately demanded an apology from the singer, to which Spears remained impenitent, Contactmusic reported.
In a statement from the singer’s management to Mtv news it read, “The video is a fantasy story featuring Britney’s boyfriend, Jason Trawick, which literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened.â€
