Downey, Jr. suggested cross-dressing scene for Sherlock Holmes

Washington - Robert Downey, Jr. has revealed that he has dressed in women’s clothes for his new Sherlock Holmes movie.
 
The 46-year-old actor said that his super-sleuth character was supposed to go undercover as a priest for a scene in upcoming sequel ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’.

However, he felt a transvestite disguise would be more interesting and suggested it to the producers.
 
The actor was surprised when the movie bosses accepted his idea and also admitted that he was “a little self-conscious” when the time came for him to dress up as a woman.

“I thought I looked like if my sister was training for the Russian Olympics... on steroids... Here’s the dumb thing. This was my idea. It was not in the script. I think originally it was a priest, and I  said, ‘Oh come on, that’s dumb... that’ll be obvious,’” Contactmusic quoted him as telling E! Online.

“When I walked on set I felt a little self-conscious about the fact that most people knew it was my idea. ‘Did Robert want his transvestite day, and did the studio accommodate him?’” he  added.
