Morrissey blasts retirement rumour as `wishful thinking`

London - Veteran singer Morrissey has slammed reports that he plans to retire in 2014 as “wishful thinking” by his critics.

The 53-year-old singer, who was quoted in an interview with JuiceOnline.com, that he would walk away from music at the age of 55, has now laughed off the rumours and has hinted that he has no plans to retire, the Daily Express reported.

“Morrissey would like to stress that reports of his ‘retirement’, as excitably earmarked by several newspapers and websites, are ‘wishful thinking’ on behalf of the writers,” a spokesman for the singer wrote in a statement.
