NASA Curiosity’s `Mohawk Guy` flooded with marriage proposals

New York - Bobak Ferdowsi, whose multi-coloured hairdo set him apart from his buttoned-down NASA colleagues during the live broadcast of Curiosity’s landing on Mars, has gone from becoming an Internet celebrity to husband material.

The rover Curiosity made its historic landing on Mars this week after a 36-week trip from Earth.

The 32-year-old and his wild hairdo became the subjects of fan art and blogs after photos from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory made the news. He went from having fewer than 200 Twitter followers to thousands overnight.

Now his female fans are stepping up and asking him to marry them.

“I know you’ve been busy, but will you marry me? Land something on Mars if the answer is yes,” the New York Daily News quoted Twitter user @amaeryllis as writing.

“Will you marry me? Am I being too forward?” another user wrote.

“Sorry for proposing marriage, but the way you landed Curiosity on Mars made my nerdy side go wild,” Kirstie Hayes tweeted.

Yet another fan, @earlyspark, said she read that Ferdowsi was “getting random marriage proposals. Add me to that list plz.”

Ferdowsi, has yet to accept any of his fans’ proposals. He wrote that he was “not ready for the attention, but happy to show it takes all types to make @MarsCuriosity! If only my coworkers would stop making fun of me.”
