New Delhi - A singer should be able to sing all kind of songs and be able to adapt to new trends, says Javed Ali who proved his versatility by crooning hit numbers like "Jash-ne-bahara", "Tinku jiya" and "Ishaqzaade" title track.

"People say that today's music is not good, but that's not right. Good music and good songs are being created. But sometimes we need to move with the trend," Javed told IANS and added that the one should not shy away from singing an item song if its in trend.

"It (the trend) is the demand of producers and directors. Music directors have to make it and singers record such songs. We can't say no because it is very important for a singer to be versatile. I am trying to do the same with my songs," he added.

Ali, 32, admits that the music of every era has its own charm and shouldn't be compared with each other.

"I consider myself lucky that I got a chance to see the live orchestra recording as a child - 100-150 musicians creating music and putting in energy had its own charm," said Ali, who recently sang amid live orchestra at the Mohammad Rafi tribute night organised by Fever FM.

"Now with technological advancement, the music is already created and singers don't sing together anymore and still such beautiful songs are being created," he added.

Ali has been singing since childhood. He began his career as jingle singer, then crooned the title track for TV soaps and eventually moved to films.

He shot to fame in 2007 with the song "Ek din teri raahon mein" from "Naqaab".

Happy with the his career graph, he said: "I have been lucky that I have had different experiences. I didn't get anything instantly. There has been a lot of struggle. I got everything step by step," he said.

"My past experiences have helped a lot in reaching the place wherever I am today. It is just a beginning," he added.
