New Delhi (IANS) - The Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC), in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), is hosting a Taiwan Film Festival Sep 11-13 in the capital.
To be screened at the Azad Bhavan Auditorium (ICCR) here, the festival will open and close with International Film Festival of India (IFFI) winning Taiwanese movies - "I Can't Live without You" (2009) and "The Wall" (2007),
respectively.
"Taiwan is already well known in the film and television arena for its distinct artistic qualities. This film festival will give viewers an opportunity to experience the rich texture of Taiwan's unique film making style with the aim of sharing its rich cultural heritage, art and history through cinema," Joy Yen, director information division, TECC, said in a
statement.
Other popular films from the island nation that will be screened at the fest are "Cape No.7", "Blue Brave - The legend of Formosa in 1895", "Our Dreams Our Island" and "Yang Yang". The films have won accolades across the globe
for reflecting the quality, range, and vitality of contemporary Taiwanese cinema.
The fest aims at promoting and developing better understanding of Taiwan amongst Indians as well as charter a road map for enabling knowledge on different aspects of Taiwanese culture and its economic growth here.
