London - A devoted Manchester City female fan is set to fulfil her dream of becoming the club’s matchday mascot on her 88th birthday on Saturday’s match.
Celia Hodkin, who has been watching City since 1933, will meet stars such as Mario Balotelli before the game against Fulham.
She will also get a tour of the Etihad stadium, a signed football from City legend Mike Summerbee and a birthday cake after the final whistle.
Premier League leaders City’s bosses arranged her visit after her daughter Cath wrote to them.
"They have set up a wonderful day. She’s over the moon," the Sun quoted the daughter a saying.
Hodkin, of New Moston, Manchester, now watches games on TV as she cares for husband Syd, who is 91 years of age.
"I first saw City when I was nine. It’s not been easy supporting them all these years," Hodkin said.
City ambassador Summerbee, 69, said: "It’s an honour to meet such a loyal fan."
