News of The World CEO James Murdoch has been embroiled in a bitter war of words with two of his former senior executives after he denied being warned of the phone hacking scandal within the organisation as long ago as 2008.
Abu Dhabi - The UAE welcomes the decision by the European Union (EU) to open a diplomatic mission in the country, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan said.
Catherine Ashton, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said she was "very pleased" to announce the opening of the EU Delegation in the UAE.
Ashton said the decision "highlights the importance both of our geo-strategic interests and our political and economic ties with this country (UAE), as well as with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a whole".
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullah met Tony Blair, special envoy of the Quartet on the Middle East, and discussed the latest developments in the Middle East peace process.
