Dr Reddy`s launches Metoprolol Succinate tablets

Dr Reddy`s Laboratories announced that it has launched Metoprolol Succinate ER tablets, a bioequivalent generic version of Toprol-XL (Metoprolol Succinate) tablets in the US market on Sept. 11, 2012.

Metoprolol ER tablets (25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg, & 200 mg) was approved by the United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) in August 2012.

The  Toprol-XL brand and generic had US sales of approximately USD 1.13 billion for the most recent twelve months ending June 2012, according to IMS Health.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till Sept. 10, 2012, rising 4.19% compared with the Sensex`s 1.19% rise. It underperformed the market in past one quarter, gaining 5.75% as against 6.27% rise in the Sensex.

Shares of the company gained Rs 12.2, or 0.71%, to settle at Rs 1,727.00. The total volume of shares traded was 24,274 at the BSE
