‘Gilani to be charged with contempt if lawyer fails to convince judiciary tomorrow’

Islamabad - The Pakistan Supreme Court has said that contempt proceedings will be initiated against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani if his lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan fails to convince the judiciary in the February 2 hearing.

A seven-judge bench of the apex court adjourned the hearing after the ruling, the Dawn reports.

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk had earlier said that contempt of court proceedings would not be initiated against Gilani if President Asif Ali Zardari’s constitutional immunity was established.
