Brussels -  European Union Commissioner for Climate Action Connie Hedegaard will travel to India Thursday to attend the 12th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit.

She will give a keynote speech at the summit Feb 3.

The Summit is an annual high level event, which this year focuses on the upcoming Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil June 20-22, her office said in a statement Wednesday. She will be in India Feb 2-4, the EuAsiaNews reported.

She will also participate in the presentation of the report of the UN High Level Panel on Global Sustainability Thursday.

On the sidelines of the summit, Hedegaard will discuss the next steps in the international climate negotiations and other climate-related themes with Indian media, NGOs and think tanks; and have bilateral meetings with several Indian ministers and the Maldives' Minister for Housing and Environment, the statement added.
