Putin wants performance checks for bureaucratsMoscow - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has proposed an individual performance assessment system for civil servants.

"There is a Key Performance Indicators system that is used in many countries and it should be introduced here," Putin said Friday.

He directed Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina to invite the business community to make proposals regarding the issue and to take them into account when developing a new system.

Putin, who is running for president in the March 4 election, has made a leaner administration part of his election programme.
