Two Tibetans killed by security forces in China's Sichuan province: Report

Beijing - Two Tibetan brothers who were participating in anti-government protests have reportedly been shot dead in southwest China's Sichuan province.

According to an unconfirmed Radio Free Asia report, the two monks, Yeshe Rigsal, 40, and his brother, Yeshe Samdrub, 38, were shot dead after being surrounded in Luhuo county, the site  of the anti-government protests.

The incident comes in the wake of growing violence in Tibetan areas, but the incident could not be confirmed as Luhuo and other Tibetan areas of Sichuan have been cut off.

Radio Free Asia also reported that an unidentified Tibetan monk had set himself on fire in the latest string of self-immolations that Tibetan activists groups said have been carried out to  protest government policies and to call for the return of the Dalai Lama.

It was not known whether the monk survived, Fox News reports.

If confirmed, he would be atleast the eighteenth person himself to set himself ablaze in Tibet.
