Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

At least 12 killed in Peshawar bomb blast

Peshawar - At least 12 people were killed and another 32 wounded in a bomb blast on the outskirts of Peshawar.

The attack took place on the road towards the garrison city of Kohat, The Dawn reports.

Television footage of the blast site showed a wrecked car alongside other damaged vehicles, and ambulances and rescue workers rushing the wounded to hospital.

A Pakistan doctor, Rahim Jan said that at least 10 dead bodies have been brought into Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.
