New York - Ashley Dupre, who became a public figure when it was disclosed that she was the woman at the centre of the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal, has gone from selling sex to sexy lingerie.
Under the name of “Femme by Ashleyâ€, the 26-year-old former call girl has leased out a storefront on the Jersey Shore to sell bras and bustiers along with swanky swimwear, according to her website, the New York Daily News reported.
She intends to open her new store this May in a stylish section of Red Bank, N.J. and in a space at 15 Broad St. that was previously a boutique called Lavish Kids, which sold expensive kiddie clothes, said Nancy J. Adams, who heads Red Bank’s downtown association.
In doing so, Dupre is setting herself up for a commercial catfight with the other lingerie peddler in the area, Angie Courtney, whose Sweetest Sin Boutique is nearby.
The brunette, who was raised in Belmar, N.J., became infamous four years ago when she was unmasked as Kristen, the 4,000 dollars-a-date call girl who knocked Spitzer’s socks off at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington.
Spitzer, who was then governor of New York, resigned in shame and later went to work as a CNN talking head.
She even stripped down for Playboy and then began writing a sex advice column before deciding to branch out from writing for a rag to selling them,
