Beijing - Four Chinese men and two women have been jailed for luring an American into a karaoke house and forcing him to pay exorbitant bills.
Prosecutors in Shanghai's Yangpu district people's court said a man, Li, chatted with the American and took him to the karaoke house in June 2010.
Two women, Tao and Ge, pretended to be waitresses and entertained the American, serving him wine, beer and fruit. Each "waitress" received a 100 yuan tip from the American, the Shanghai Daily reported.
When the client was about to leave, he was charged around 17,600 yuan ($2,800) and threatened with violence if he refused to pay.
The six were ordered to return their illegal income and also fined 13,000 yuan ($2,000).
