Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Beijing - Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang has re-assured that his country is committed to properly resolve the South China Sea issue with Vietnam.

"The two countries should proceed from the overall and long-term interests and take effective measures to properly handle the South China Sea issue," Keqiang said.

During a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Keqiang said China is willing to work with the Vietnamese side to enhance high-level exchanges, promote substantive cooperation and cement new ties.

Noting both countries are at critical moment for development, Keqiang urged the two neighbors to deepen pragmatic cooperation and achieve mutual economic benefits, The China Daily reports.

"China encourages and supports capable enterprises with good reputation to invest in Vietnam," the paper quoted him, as saying.

According to the report, Hai said he agreed with Keqiang on his views of the development of bilateral relations.

He added that he believes China's further growth will make greater contributions to the world peace and development.
