Former student shoots seven to death at Christian university in California

California - A former nursing student of a small Christian university in California opened fire at a school, killing at least seven people, and wounding three others on Monday.

The shooting incident in the school prompted an intense, chaotic manhunt that ended with the shooter's capture at a nearby shopping center, according to the authorities.

Police Chief Howard Jordan said One L. Goh is in custody after he surrendered about an hour after the shooting at the Oikos University.

Jordan said police have recovered the weapon, which they believe was used by Goh during the rampage.

Earlier, police had depicted the suspect as 'a heavyset Korean man in his 40s wearing khaki clothing'.

Jordan believes it will take some time for the police to solve the case, and identify the reasons behind the brutal genocide

"It's going to take us a few days to put the pieces together. We do not have a motive," The CBS News quoted Jordan, as saying.

Jordan then revealed there were about 35 people in or near the building when gunfire broke out Monday morning, and out of the seven fatalities, five died at the scene, and another two at  the hospital. Three wounded victims are in stable condition.

"This unprecedented tragedy was shocking and senseless," he said.

Pastor Jong Kim, who founded the school about 10 years ago, said that the shooter was a nursing student who was no longer enrolled.
