Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Skardu (Pakistan) -An avalanche has reportedly buried about 135 Pakistani Army soldiers, including a colonel in the Gayari Sector near the Siachen Glacier.

A Geo News report quoted  ISPR spokesman Major General Athar Abbas, as saying:: "At six o'clock this morning this avalanche hit a (military) headquarters. Over 100 soldiers and personnel are trapped."

He  added that rescue teams were headed to the scene. He said the army would comment later on whether there were any casualties.

According to the Dawn newspaper, the avalanche smashed into the Pakistan Army battalion headquarters on a Himalayan glacier close to India.

Siachen is on the northern tip of the divided Kashmir region claimed by both India and Pakistan.
