Nude `boozy` students cause ferry riot

London -Around 200 drunken students trashed a 180-million-pound ferry as they ran around naked and had a mass brawl.

Terrified passengers were taken to safety in a secure room during the rampage.

The naked students smashed glasses and bottles, overturned tables and set ashtrays alight on P’ n’ O ship Spirit of France.

The ship was sailing from Dover to Calais on Sunday when 200 students on university ski trips to the Alps ran amok.

Captain Steve Johnson described the behaviour of undergraduates from Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester as “despicable” last night.

“There was dancing on tables and bottles and glasses kicked off tables. Males and females were exposing themselves in generally drunken, loutish behaviour. There were many complaints,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

Four coachloads of students were among 1,559 people, including elderly people and families with young children, on the 2.20am sailing.

Crew said students were very drunk when they arrived. Streaking and loutish antics culminated in fighting in a bar.

Manchester Metropolitan University said it was investigating.
