Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Beijing - A commentary published Tuesday in the official newspaper of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has stressed strict political discipline and the party's absolute leadership over the army.

It is essential to ensure the Communist Party of China's absolute leadership over the army is the core of the army's political discipline, the commentary in the PLA Daily said.

Political discipline, which safeguards the political orientation and principle of the Party, is the most important and essential part of all the Party disciplines, reported Xinhua citing the commentary.

Party organizations at all levels and Party members should listen to the Party command, it urged.

The commentary also emphasized organizational discipline and adherence to anti-corruption rules.

Every Party member and cadre should firmly obey decisions, orders and instructions and unconditionally put themselves under the leadership of the organizations in question, it said.
