Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Damascus -  An armed group set ablaze a health centre Saturday in Syria's Latakai city, Xinhua reported.

According to Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the fire has been controlled. No casualties were reported in the incident.

In a separate incident, an armed group attacked a civilian bus and wounded three people in the northern city of Idlib.

In southern province of Daraa, gunmen attacked a law- enforcement patrol, killing two warrant officers, the report said.

The incidents came as the UN Security Council (UNSC) is set to endorse sending international observers to Syria to monitor the truce brokered by UN-Arab League joint special envoy to Syria Kofi Annan.
